Mckillips Gordon
November 21, 1951 – February 2, 2024
Wilma Kay McKillips Gordon, daughter of the late Maurice and Caroline (Meriedith) McKillips, was delivered at home in Kennett, Missouri by her father on November 21, 1951 and departed this life February 2, 2024 at the age of 72 years 2 months and twelve days. Wilma married Rocky Gordon, Sr. on December 1, 1973.
She graduated from Kennett high School in 1969 with honors. She attended Three Rivers Community College and Southeast Missouri University graduating with a Master's degree in Special Education. She retired from teaching in 2007. Kay enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, reading and researching family history on Ancestry.com. She attended St. Cecilia's Church and was baptized and received her first communion there. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.
She is survived by:
Her husband: Rocky Gordon, Sr. of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Five sons: Rocky (Amber) Gordon, Jr., Randy Gordon, Harley Gordon, Jesse Gordon and Stephen Gordon all of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
One brother: Chuck McKillips of Poplar Bluff.
Two sisters: Linda McKillips (Wayne Standley) of North Little Rock, Arkansas.
Thresia McKillips of Poplar Bluff.
Three granddaughters: Alexis, Aubrey and Saphira Gordon.
Best friend and nurse: Chrystal Thrasher McNew.
Adopted son: Dwayne Coursey, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by: Two granddaughters: Caroline and Carley Gordon, brother: David Rudy McKillips, sister: Mary McKillips, daughter-in-law: Renee Gordon, brother-in-law: Lester Slaughter and sister-in-law: Mary Ann McKillips.
Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett with Mr. Kim Combs officiating. Interment to follow. Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Jesse Gordon, Dennis McElhaney, John McElhaney, Joe McElhaney, Rocky Gordon, Jr., Randy Gordon and Chuck McKillips.
