Terry Don Key, 71, of Wappapello, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2026. He was born on November 20, 1954, in Kennett, Missouri, to Thelma Louise Key and the late Donald “Don” Key.

Terry dedicated much of his life to serving and protecting the people of his community. His career in public service spanned nearly five decades. He proudly served with Kennett Fire Department, Cardwell Fire Department, the City of Kennett Police Department, and with the Dunklin County Sheriff’s Department. Terry was known for his unwavering commitment to protecting others and his deep love for the community he served.

Terry loved the outdoors and could often be found duck hunting, deer hunting, or fishing. He enjoyed the peace and fellowship that came with being outdoors, but his greatest joy was his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, protection, and faith that will continue through the generations.

Terry is survived by his wife, Jessica Key; his son, Terry Don Key II and his wife, Erica, of Kennett; his daughter, Amy Key Seagraves and her husband, Josh Seagraves, of Benton, Arkansas; the mother of his children, Kimla Key; his stepson, Anthony Ellington and his wife, Madison; and his grandchildren, Carter Benson Key and his wife, Aubrey; Addy Mae Seagraves; and Makenna Seagraves.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald “Don” Key and Tyler Ellington, step son.

He is also survived by his mother, Thelma Louise Key; his sisters, Linda Key and Cathy Estes; along with many extended family members, friends, and countless people whose lives he touched through his years of service.

Terry spent his life protecting others. He answered the call when his community needed him, and he never stopped caring for the people around him. His badge, his service, his faith, and most importantly, his love for his family will be a lasting part of his legacy.

Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort knowing that Terry is now at peace and has gone home to be with his Lord and Savior.

Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2026 at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, at the McDaniel Chapel in Kennett. Missouri with Rev. Johnny Bogle officiating.  Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett. Honored to serve as pallbearers: Carter Key, Greg Ray, Chad French, Jack Davis, Jacob Waddell and Jeremy Allgood. Honorary Pallbearers: Dunklin County Sheriff's Department, Kennett Police Department, Kennett Fire Department, Cardwell Fire Department, Bruce Sells, Bub Allgood, Keith Waddell and Jamie Sells.
