May 15, 1947 – September 17, 2021
Samuel Austin Yount, son of Robert Bryan and Mae Pearl (Ferrell) Yount was born on May 15, 1947 at home in Kennett, Missouri. His sister and cousin were reported to have named him. He departed this earthly life on September 17, 2021 at St. Bernard Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
He married Denise Goodman in 1971. Samuel was a United States Navy Veteran; he served onboard an aircraft carrier during the Vietnam War. After honorable discharge from military service, Samuel worked for Southern Towing Company first as an engineer and later as a towboat pilot until his retirement in 2009. He was a loving, supportive husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.

Son: Joseph Bryant and wife, Yolaines Yount of Kennett, Missouri

Grandsons: Tristan Cole, Gavin Airsman, Cole McCormick, Layne McCormick
Great granddaughters: Gwendolyn Wynter Rayne Leezy and Bradleigh Annalyse Beaird
Nieces: Cynthia Ann Richardson, Beverly Dian Wilburn, Catherine Lynn (Fred)Aldrich, Glenna Louise (Danny) Pinkston
Nephews: Salvatore (Hongjuan-Jen) Russo, Robert and Peggy Yount,
Paul and Stacy Yount
Special Aunt: Dortha (Dot) Goodman
Longtime dear friends: Danny Davis, Mike Shaw, Bill Jackson, Steve Hollingsworth and many others; precious relatives including many grand nieces, and grand nephews.
Samuel was preceded in death by: his parents and parents-in-law, brother: Richard Bryan Yount, sister Barbara June Russo, brother-in-law Arvit Stanley Goodman, nieces Karen Linnes Yount, Linda Sue Crisel Miller, nephew Michael Carlos Crisel, nephews by marriage James Richardson and Phillip D. Wilburn, Sr.
Services will be 2 PM Monday, September 20, 2021 in the McDaniel Chapel with Reverend Steven Scherer officiating, burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12 PM Monday and will go until service time.
