August 4, 1934 – June 11, 2025
Roberta June Freeman, the eldest child of the late George and Georgia Jaco, was born August 4, 1934 in Hornersville, Missouri and departed this life on June 11, 2025 in Kennett, Missouri.
Roberta grew up in Hornersville, Mo and graduated from Hornersville High School. She fondly remembered helping on the farm and playing basketball for HHS. She was married Robert Don Freeman on March 17, 1954 and they were blessed with 59 years of marriage. Roberta dedicated over 30 years of her career to the MO. Department of Social Services and especially enjoyed working with the Child Protective Services and the Foster Family program. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Kennett and a devout follower of Christ. She was a member of various community service clubs and was a volunteer for the area nursing homes.
She loved baking, cake decorating and making wedding cakes. Many holiday meals were served on one of her numerous collections of antique glassware and Roberta could make any receipe work, even without cheese. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making clothes for family, friends and the occasional Barbie doll.
Roberta and Bob loved to travel with family through the years and upon retirement they spent many years RVing across America, Canada and Mexico . Roberta is remembered as always being on the go, staying busy and helping family, friends and community.
Roberta is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and four siblings: George Wylie Jaco, Dorotha Keating, Floyd Jaco and Rebecca Sessums.
She is survived by her son Greg Freeman (Ann) of Colorado Springs, Co, her daughter Leslie Hornick (John) of Ashland, Mo. and her sisters: Shirley Branum of Arbyrd, Mo and Barbara Davis of Elden, Mo several nieces and nephews.
Family request Memorials be made to First Baptist Church 300 St. Francis St. Kennett, Mo. 63857 in lieu of flowers.
Visitation will be 1;00 pm to 2:00 pm Sunday, June 15, 2025, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett. Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the McDaniel Chapel with Pastor Steven Scherer officiating.
