Reynold "Ray" Bernell Crain, son of the late Oscar Franklin Crain and Pearl Lettie (Conklin) Crain was born September 3, 1921 in Switz City, Indiana and departed this life on June 28, 2021 at the age of 99 years 9 months and 25 days. Ray married Ruth W. Wright on March 24, 1945. Ruth preceded Ray in death July 10, 2007.
Survivors include:
Two daughters: Kay Anderson of Tallahassee, Florida
Beth Willis of Kennett, Missouri
Three grandchildren: Matthew Anderson, Amanda Mills and Brian Anderson
Six great grandchildren
Two sisters: Evelyn Attig of Tullahoma, Tennessee
Jane Crain of Marion, Illinois
Other relatives and many friends.
Ray was preceded in death by his daughter Gail Butler and ten brothers and sisters.
Ray was of Kennett, Missouri and passed away at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, Arkansas
Ray was a World War II veteran, a member of "The Greatest Generation". From late 1942 to early 1943 he flew 25 missions on B-17 bombers out of an airfield outside of London. He returned to the states and returned to civilian life in 1945.
Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett, Missouri. Reverend Johnny Bogle officiating.
McDaniel Funeral Service of Kennett, Missouri will be in charge of the arrangements.
