Orville Gene
Sessums
March 5, 1948 – January 21, 2024
Orville Gene Sessums of Arbyrd, Missouri passed away on January 21, 2024, while in St Bernards in Jonesboro, AR; at the age of 75. He was born March 5, 1948, in Arbyrd, Missouri to Arvle Washington and Newell Maxine (Strauser) Sessums.
He married Peggy June Burgess on August 11, 1969, in Kennett, Missouri.
Orville was a veteran who, at a young age, joined the Army to serve his country during the Vietnam War. He had a strong work ethic and was always busy even after retiring. He drove Semi trucks and worked on a farm for a few years. He mostly worked at factories including Monroe Auto and then Martin Sprocket and Gear; from where he retired. He came up with ideas to make production at work better. He could fabricate stuff out of metal and was called on at work several times to create parts for the machinery.
Orville Gene would do anything he could to help anyone in need. Whether it be helping out in their yard, or loaning them tools, or a mower. He was a great provider, and he loved his wife dearly. He always wanted to make sure that she and their kids and grandkids had anything they needed.
He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting whether it be with family or friends. He loved being outside and made many memories with his children, grandchildren, their friends, nieces and nephews. He was always playing ball, riding the little 80 motorcycle with them, going marble hunting, or just having them pick up sticks and help in the yard.
He had a green thumb and could grow anything. He was great at landscaping and loved working in his yard. Many days you could find him out on his lawnmower mowing his yard as well as several others in town.
Although he really didn't like carpenter work, he was really good at it. He could build anything whether it be doghouses for the strays his kids brought home, a rabbit cage for the grandkid's pets, or an island for his daughter's kitchen. And while he didn't like that type of work, he did it out of great love for his family.
He was preceded in death by his son Larry Wayne Greer and granddaughter Casie Amanda Greer, two brothers; Theodore L. Sessums and Harry Alvin Sessums; two sisters; Linda Faye Sessums-Gonser & Rose Marie Sessums-Caldwell.
He leaves behind 3 children, James Greer of Black Oak, AR; Peggy (Micky) Ward of Arbyrd; and Tad Sessums of Arbyrd. As well as 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind one brother, Donald Ray Sessums of Beech Grove, AR; and one sister Jewell Maxine Sessums-Barnes of Medon, TN. There are also several nieces, nephews and extended family members that will miss him dearly.
