Mary Ellen Kirby Akers, daughter of the late O.A. "Fat" and Ruby (Brown) Kirby, was born August 24, 1939, in Kennett, Missouri and departed this life March 11, 2024, in Barnhart, Missouri. Mary married Gene Akers.  He preceded her in death October 19, 2014.

She is survived by:

One son: Patrick (Karen) Akers.

One brother: James "Bill" Kirby.

One sister: Margaret Langston.

Three grandchildren: Nichole, Ashley and Christopher.

Special friend: Cathie

Other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Gene Akers, one son: Michael Akers and three sisters: Anne Williams, Mona Gregory and Jonell Kirby.

Mary had many friends and family that she loved. She knew God and served Him with all her heart. She will be missed!

Visitation will be 10:00 AM Saturday, March 16, 2024 at McDaniel Funeral Service in Kennett. Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 16, 2024 at McDaniel Chapel in Kennett with Pastor Jeff Purvis Officiating. Burial in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett. Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Matt Kirby, Chris Smith, Gary Mitchell, Brian Kirby, Poncho Parker and Jim North.
