Obituary

Joe Lynn Shipman 72, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away December 22, 2024. He was born in White Oak, Missouri, on August 10, 1952, to Joe Vester Shipman and Olena Thurman Stokes. He was married to Mary Dunaway Shipman for 51 years.

Joe worked for and had a career in farming  and professional truck driving for multiple companies, including McLane Transporting of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.  He grew up as a farmer working  on many farms through out his prime years, even the family farm, along side his father Joe Vester growing up.

He was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church. He had a passion for hunting, fishing, camping, taking levee rides to look for deer and mowing his lawn with his ice cold drink in his hand. He took pride in his name and life. To know Joe was to love Joe. He was truly a jokester and if you ask somebody that has a memory of him, it was probably something funny.

Joe is survived by his wife: Mary Dunaway Shipman of Pensacola, Fl.

Three daughters: Kimberly Curry, Dana Miller and Jamie Shipman all of Pensacola, Fl.

Six grandchildren: Caitlan Curry of Pensacola, Fl. Cody Curry of Campbell, Mo., Christian Robinson of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Josh (Jazlyn) Watson of Kennett, MO., Danielle Robinson of Pensacola and  Ava Watson of Kennett.

Six great grandchildren: Dryson, Issabella, Carter, Jayson, Mercy and Brooklyn

One sister Joyce (Mike) Wilson,

Three step-sisters Penny (Larry) Nelson, Patricia Johnson, and Kim (David) Hargrove

One step-Brother Gilbert (Dianne) Lewis

Many cousins, lifetime friends and more. Joe was loved by many and hated by none, he was truly a bright light in the community and in his family, he will be missed dearly and will forever be in our hearts.

He was preceded in death by his father: Joe Vester Shipman, mother: Olena Thurman Stokes, sister: Gwendolyn DeBerry, brother: Dana Keith, stepbrother: Martin Lewis, beloved dog: Cici, and many more loved ones, he cherished with his life.
