Jo Nell Scott, a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, passed away on April 26, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on November 23, 1933, in Senath, Missouri, JoNell was the cherished daughter of Claude and Dorothy (Warren) Butler.
She was a proud graduate of Senath High School, Senath, Missouri, and pursued further education at Memphis Business School in Memphis, Tennessee. She went on to work for many years until her retirement at the Dunklin County Courthouse in Kennett, Missouri, where she worked in various capacities as a secretary and clerk.
JoNell had several interests and hobbies she enjoyed. She particularly loved bowling with friends and family. JoNell made treasured quilts with love, serving as lasting reminders of her creativity and warmth. She also had a special love for animals.
Her family meant everything to her. JoNell is survived by her two sons, Bruce (Jeanie) Scott and James (Grace) Scott. She leaves behind a loving sister, Claudine (Jim) McCaleb, as well as two grandsons, Brandon (Shayla) Scott and Warren (Nicole) Scott, who brought endless happiness to her days. Her legacy continues with seven great-grandchildren: Caden, Morgan, Tyler, Hayden, Haylee, Maeve, and Isaac, along with two great-great-grandchildren, Crue and Zaylen. JoNell is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She was preceded in passing by her beloved husband, James Scott; her parents, Claude and Dorothy Butler; and her cherished granddaughter, Candace Scott.
The family invites all who knew and loved JoNell to join them in celebrating her life. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, 12:00 noon – 1:00 PM at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath, Missouri. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 PM. JoNell will be laid to rest at Dunklin County Memorial Gardens in Kennett, Missouri, next to her husband, James, following the memorial service.
JoNell lived a life filled with love and a steadfast dedication to her family, friends, and community. She will be deeply missed.
Services are under the direction of McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath and Kennett, Missouri.
