James “Jim”
Ralph Reynolds
June 22, 1946 – August 21, 2024
James (Jim) Ralph Reynolds was born in Cape Girardeau, Mo., on June 22,1946. His parents were Dr. Garland and Mrs. Lorraine Reynolds who have preceded him in death. Jim went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 21, 2024.
On October 7, at the First Presbyterian Church, he married Shelia Mills of Kennett, Mo., who he had always said was the love of his life. He saw Shelia at the Sonic during lunch and followed her back to work. From there, the story began and they built a happy life together.
Jim had four children: Jamie Reynolds Blattel (husband Jonathan), of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; Chasity Reynolds Meyers (husband Paul) of Town and Country, Mo.; Chris Reynolds of Los Angeles, Calif.; and Ryan Reynolds (wife Kara) of St. Louis, Mo. Jim had seven grandchildren and it made him so happy to be called Papa.
He was a member of the American Bar Association and had a law degree from the University of Missouri. He was an attorney with Crow, Reynolds, Shetley, McVey and Scherer law firm of Kennett, Mo., for 50 years. Although he had retired, it was told that he was still getting calls from clients for him to be their attorney. Jim loved watching the Mizzou football and Mizzou basketball games. During the games, he would text and talk to his friends about the game's scores and games plays. Jim was very involved in the revival of the Kennett Indians Booster Club and had helped to paint the tomahawks and arrows that would lead to the football stadium.
Jim was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kennett, Mo. He had previously served on the Administrative Board Council and enjoyed being a part of the Open Door Class. He also loved eating the lunches that his Sunday School Class shared together.
He had been president of the Kennett Country Club back when he first joined the country club. He had a passion for golf and began playing with a golf club at the age of three. He began swinging a golf club on the golf course at the age of 6. He was on the golf team throughout his high school years and his team won the State Championship in 1964. The team reunited in 2011 and they were able to play another round of golf. Jim was inducted into the Cape Central Hall of Fame in 2011.
Jim loved his Corvettes. He was previously a member of the National Corvette Restoration Society and loved being a part of restoring the cars and going to all the car shows. He was known to have bought a few Corvettes at those Corvette shows.
Jim loved his work and he loved playing golf. But he always loved his family more. He will be missed and remembered by his family, friends, and the many clients who he has helped throughout the years.
