Jack
Stone
October 20, 1924 – September 16, 2024
Claude Franklin "Jack" Stone passed away on September 16, 2024 in Jonesboro, Arkansas at
the age of 99 years, 10 months, and 27 days. Jack was born on October 20, 1924 in
Hornersville, Missouri to Claude and Janie Helton Stone.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Senath.
Jack worked at several area cotton gins during his life, but spent most of his time at the Caruth
gin. He was known as a talented carpenter and followed in his father's footsteps by making
duck calls. Many of the homes in the Senath and Hornersville communities were built by Jack
and his brother, including his home where he lived for 62 years. He enjoyed driving around and
pointing out the houses he built and remembered who each house was built for and the date it
was constructed. The duck calls Jack made were highly sought after collectibles. He always
enjoyed donating the calls to charity events. Jack was very knowledgeable and an avid reader.
He loved to frustrate his children by not participating in a game of Trivial Pursuit, but telling
everyone the answers. Most of all, Jack was proud of his family and loved visits from his
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jack was united in marriage to Della Launius on July 27, 1957, who survives. Also surviving are
sons Randy (Roxanne) Stone of Arbyrd and John (Nicole) Stone of Greenbrier, Arkansas;
daughters Karen (Steve) Worrell of Steele and Pam (Joe) Sherrod of Kennett; 14 grandchildren,
Summer Sanders, Chris Stone, Lauren (Jason) House, Zach (Stephanie) Worrell, Jason (Jen)
Sherrod, Andy (Anna) Sherrod, Matthew, Jaclyn, Jonna, and Nicolas Stone, Kristopher Carter,
Katelyn Couch, Richard Chailland, and Leah McFall, and eleven great-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Bill Stone, Tommy Stone, Joe Stone, Marie
Karnes, Francis Gist, and Sue Hubble.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 20 at 12:00 at the Senath First Baptist
Church with Doug Clinton officiating. The visitation will be from 10:00 and continue until service
time.
The family requests that memorials may be made to The Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House or
Senath First Baptist Church in memory of Jack.
McDaniel Funeral Service of Senath is in charge of arrangements.
