Gwendolyn Sue Johnson Thompson, daughter of the late W.H. "Bill" Johnson and Mary Etta Chandler Johnson, was born August 30, 1949 and departed this life on July 6, 2026 at the age of 76 years.

Gwendolyn was a retired social worker for the Social Services Department of Missouri.

Survivors include: Sister: Marilyn Atwill

Her rescue dog: Charlie

Special cousins: Jackie Johnson Onsrud, Sue Johnson Mackenzie and Bill Mackenzie

Special Niece and Nephew: Autumn  Atwill and Lee Atwill

Special great niece: Addison Atwill

Other relatives and many friends.

Gwen was a member of First United Methodist Church, Bridge Club and PEO-Sorority.

Gwen was lovingly referred to as "Auntie" by close family and friends.  She enjoyed knitting, reading, cooking, volunteering at church, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Visitation will be 6:00 pm to 8:oo pm Thursday, July 9, 2026 at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett with Graveside Services  July 10, 2026 at 10:00 am at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett. Pastor Mark Kailbourn officiating.
