George Roy Thurston, son of the late Walter Claude Thurston and Ora Bell (Deck) Thurston, was born July 30, 1927 in Bernie, Missouri and departed this life on July 23, 2022, at the age of 94 years, 11 months and 24 days. George married Helen Margaret Kifer. Helen preceded him in death in 2011.

Survivors include: Five grandchildren:

Eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Three sisters: Shirley Zummerman of Bernie, Missouri:

Mary Norman of Dexter, Missouri and

Melba Baker of Dexter, Missouri.

George was preceded in death by his daughter: Vickie Jo Brown, three brothers: Ralph, Carl and Raymond Thurston and two sisters: Thelma Hartley and Helen Beachum.

George was of Kennett, Missouri and served his country in the United States Army National Guard.

Visitation will be 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2022 at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett, Missouri. Graveside Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2022 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.

McDaniel Funeral Service of Kennett, Missouri will be in charge of the arrangements.
