Donald Wayne
Shelton
July 24, 1935 – December 7, 2024
On Saturday, December 7, 2024, Wayne Shelton left the trials of this world and stepped into the eternal
embrace of his Lord, receiving the reward of a life lived faithfully. In his final weeks, surrounded by the
love and care of his family at home, he quietly slipped into the arms of Jesus, where pain and suffering no
longer have a hold.
Donald Wayne Shelton, born July 24, 1935, in Rector, Arkansas, to Artie and Gertie Shelton, embodied a
life of steadfast dedication and unshakable faith. For over 35 years, he worked diligently at Emerson
Electric in Kennett, Missouri, fostering friendships and earning the respect of his colleagues. Even in
retirement, Wayne's industrious spirit thrived as he mowed yards and delivered cars across the country
for dealerships, always pursuing excellence in every task that he put his hand to.
Wayne's love for his wife of 68 years, Shirley Shelton, and his children, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, extended family and friends were deep and unwavering, yet it paled in comparison to his devotion to his Savior, Jesus Christ. His words and deeds reflected a heart wholly committed to his faith, inspiring those around him to live with integrity and purpose. A kind encourager, a helping hand, and a source of wise counsel, Wayne's life was a testament to the grace and love of God. He loved to worship in the house of God and loved the people who worshipped with him.
He is survived by his daughter, Tanera (Tammy) Lee Presson, and her husband, Dewayne, of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; his daughter-in-law, Karen Shelton; his grandchildren: Breanna Lea Batchelor and her husband, Aaron, Stephanie Lynn Shelton, and Jonathan Edward Presson; and his great-grandchildren: Breleigh Anna, Reagan Alizabeth, Gentry Aaron Batchelor, Ella Marie, and Noah Steven Tlapalamatl. Wayne also leaves behind his brothers, Doyne Shelton and Byrone Shelton, both of Arkansas, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who were touched by his kind heart and steady Christian character and humble spirit.
Wayne was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Nell Shelton; his son, Steven Lynn Shelton,
brothers: Burl Shelton, Buell Shelton, Clayborn Shelton, Norman Shelton, Eugene Shelton, Dewey
Shelton and Thomas Shelton and two sisters Melda Cavaness and Avis Adams.
A man of unwavering faith, tireless service, and deep compassion, Wayne's life is a beacon of Christ-like
love and generosity. His legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him to
walk in the light he so faithfully followed.
