David was a graduate of Senath High School. He served in the U S Navy during WWII and then earned degrees from both Iowa State and the University of Missouri. He and his new bride lived for a few years in St. James, MO, where he taught agriculture classes for veterans and grew strawberries. In 1952, they moved to the farm in southeast Missouri where he had been raised. Dave and Ginny started building their home on the family farm in 1952, and then added on to that house several times over the years. Dave owned one of the first mechanical cotton pickers in our area. He also invested early in irrigation systems and embraced agricultural research. He was proud to be a cotton farmer, but he also experimented with a wide variety of other crops and sometimes raised cattle or hogs, too.
Dave served in numerous civic organizations, was a member of American Legion Post 303 for 75 years, and was a life long United Methodist. He and Ginny were an important part of the community for seven decades.
