Cecil Eugene "Speed" Ellis, 90 of Kennett, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, August 29, 2025.  He was born July 5, 1935 to Sam and Gladys Massey Ellis.  He was married to Mary Jo Ross on December 7, 1963. He had four sons.

He owned and operated Ellis Farms, retiring in 2023.  He was a proud member of the American Agriculture Movement in the 1970's.  He participated in the "Tractorcade", driving his John Deere 4630 to Washington, DC.  He enjoyed farming, hunting and Cardinal baseball.

Speed is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Ellis, sons Mitchell (Tonya) Ellis, Mark (Tracy) Ellis, daughter in law Teresa Ellis, grandchildren Sarah (Tim) Leyenaar, John (Savannah) Ellis, Cody Ellis, Brooke (Andy) Fleeman, Kasey Ellis, Erin (Nate) Guthrie, Ty Ellis, Bodey Ellis, Jessica (Tad) Lindsey and Luke (Kayleigh) Ellis, brother Gary Ellis, sister Geraldine "Sis" (Joe) McLaughlin, fourteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Speed was preceded in death by his parents, sons Hugh Mack and Randy Ellis, brothers Hubert, Larry and Jim Ellis.

Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at McDaniel Funeral Service in Kennett.  Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 3, 2025 in the McDaniel Chapel in Kennett with Reverend Ricky Ross and Reverend Henry Reiber officiating.  Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens in Kennett.  Honored to serve as pallbearers are:  John Ellis, Luke Ellis, Ty Ellis, Bodey Ellis, Andy Fleeman, Tad Lindsey and Jayce Leyenaar.  Honorary pallbearers:  Bob Holder, Gary George, Charles Fuller, Joe Hicks, Nate Guthrie, Ray Ross and Butch Huskey.
