Obituary

Bobby was born to Ollie (Elliott) and Otto Miner of Cardwell, Missouri on November 9, 1932 and died in Bryan, Texas on July 30, 2025, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Growing up among farmland, picking cotton, and fishing in the nearby rivers remained some of his fondest memories throughout his life. This is what gave him the strong work ethic and desire for a different way of life. After high school graduation Bobby soon married Shirley Vaughn, and went to work for Caterpillar. Quickly realizing this kind of work and the freezing temperatures of Peoria, Illinois was not his idea of a good time, he made the decision to move to Port Arthur to enroll in what is now Lamar University at Port Arthur to study Radio Broadcasting, and became a certified two-way radio technician.

He and Shirley had two children, Linda and Jack.

After some time, Bob and Shirley ended their marriage, and Bob decided to stay in Texas. This is where he met and later married Joyce Williams. Bob went to work for Southern Pacific Railroad in 1962 where he stayed until he retired in 1989.

Bob and Joyce welcomed another daughter, Melissa, into their lives during their marriage.

Not one to give up, Bob later married Dora Kittinger. This marriage would last 42 years, and he gained bonus children, Cathy, Michael, and Resa.

Bob is predeceased by his wife Dora; his parents; his sons Michael Kittinger and Jack Miner; son in law Morris "Bogy" Gustavus, daughter Resa Kittinger and grandson Brad Miner. As well as siblings Garland Daily, Norma Cahoon, and Juanita Bradley.

He is survived by his daughters Melissa Miner Gustavus of Bryan, Texas; Linda Miner Morrow (Mike) of Wichita, Kansas; and Catherine Kittinger Taylor (Lee) of Cedar Crest, New Mexico. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren, also his former wife and friend, Joyce Miner Long.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, August 16, 2025 at the Cardwell Cemetery with Rev. Doug Clinton officiating.
