Obituary

Command Sergeant Major Becky L. Bruce, 69 of Senath, Missouri passed away on November 16, 2021. Becky was one of the most respected female Command Sergeants Major in the US Army. She entered the Army in 1975 making her a pioneer and one of few women in the Women Army Corps. Born on July 29, 1952 in Senath, Missouri to Leo and Irene (Vance) Bruce, she enlisted in the army in 1975 and retired after 23 years of honorable service as a Command Sergeant Major, the highest enlisted rank in the Armed Forces. Becky's most memorable experience was making First Sergeant and Command Sergeant Major. She was a member of "The Women's Memorial" in Washington DC, recognized for Women in the Military Service for America. She was highly honored receiving a Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (8th award), Army Achievement Medal (2nd award), Army Good Conduct Medal (7th award), National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Expert Marksmanship Badge. She loved her country and the men and women she served with.

Seven nieces:  Teresa Bruce of House Springs, MO, Jackie (Ken) French of Lake Cormorant, MS, Gaye (Tommy) Guthrie of Sulphur Rock, AR, Sharla (Eric) Jones of Batesville, AR, Ashley (Matt) Ziegler of Lake City, AR, Gwen (Robert) Johnson of Jonesboro, IL, Lisa (Sam) Stacks of Kennett, MO,

Many great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by three brothers: Wayne, Jamie and William Leo Bruce and a sister: Brenda Bruce, a brother-in-law: Bobby Northcutt, sister-in-law: Sandra Bruce and two nephews: Keith Bruce and Brad Bruce.

Visitation will be 11:00 AM-1:00 PM Monday, November 22, 2021 at McDaniel Funeral Service in Senath. Services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, November 22, 2021 at the McDaniel Chapel in Senath with Reverend Jim Pemberton officiating. Burial in Lulu Cemetery in Senath. Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Jason Bruce, Mark Bruce, Gary Neighbors, John Neighbors, Sam Stacks, Matthew Coleman, Larry Carnell and Darren Bruce. Honorary pallbearers are: Teresa Bruce, MAJ Julie Vessel, CW3 Renee Priddy, CSM Alicia Castillo, SGM Faith Wharton, 1SG Juanita Ayala, 1SG Maureen McGinn, SFC Regina Rose, and SFC Vicki Roberts.
