Anita Jo
Brogden
June 1, 1944 – October 13, 2024
Anita Jo Brogden left this world on October 13, 2024, at the age of 80 years. Anita Jo was born June 1,1944, in Caruth, Missouri, to Emma Jo and Billy Horner.
Anita Jo met the love of her life and beloved husband, Ronny and they married on March 7, 1965. They have three children: Leah Jo Wallace of Kennett, Missouri, LaGaye Coffee (Jeff) of Bentonville, Arkansas and Neil Brogden (Alisa) of Stonewall, Louisiana.
She is survived by her husband Ronny, three children and nine grandchildren: Cameron Wallace (Kristen) of Spring Hill, Tennessee, Declan Wallace (Kelsey) of Paragould, Arkansas, Zane Wallace of Nashville, Tennessee, Kayton Coffee of Bentonville, Arkansas, Karson Coffee of Bentonville, Arkansas, Eli Brogden, Baker Brogden, Brynn Brogden and Maggie Brogden of Stonewall, Louisiana.
Anita Jo studied Art at Memphis State University. She taught in the Kennett Public School System shortly before settling in to teaching private art lesson to many children throughout the community in her home for many years.
She has been a member of many community organizations over her lifetime. In 1973 Anita Jo was presented with "Outstanding Woman of the Year" award. In 1974 she received the Michaelanean Award, an international award given for outstanding service to the fraternity and community from her work with the Semo-Northeast Arkansas Alpha Phi Alumnae Chapter and project for the American Heart Association. For many years the Alumnae chapter raised money to buy cardiac equipment for local hospitals.
She has been a member of The LaFemme Club, Adelphian Club, PEO, Ladies Golf Association, serving as President in each of these organizations. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kennett and served on many committees within.
Anita Jo was known for her unwavering faith, love of the Lord, devotion to her family, determination and strong will. She was an inspiration to so many people, but she was also spunky and fun. Since retirement going on cruses or spending a week in Destin were some of her favorite things to do.
She had a passion for playing golf and could be found on the golf course on most days weather permitting. She won the Kennett Country Club Championship five separate times in her lifetime.
Throughout her battle with cancer, she has been a beacon of light for others going through similiar struggles, as she has shared her faith and testimony with so many. Anita and Ronny have gone into people's homes, often taking books of scripture, praying with them and encouraging them to always have faith and hope.
Anita Jo will be missed by many friends and loved ones, but because of the hope we find in Jesus, we know we will see her again.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (http://.stjude.org) or First United Methodist Church in Anita's name.
