Alton Travis Payne, son of the late John "Melvin" and Eula Mae (Vaughn) Payne was born October 26,1928 in Belleville, Arkansas and departed this life August 14, 2023 at Heritage Nursing Center in Kennett at the age of 94 years. Alton married Joyce Jones May 23, 1953 in Gobler, Missouri. She preceded him in death August 2, 2022. Mr. Payne served in the United States Navy and was a retired farmer.

He is survived by:

Two sons: Larry (Patty) Payne of Rives, Missouri.

Travis (Twila) Payne of Rives, Missouri

Two daughters: Teresa (Mike) Fouts of Bowling Green, Kentucky

Letitia (Doug) Ursery of Kennett, Missouri

30 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 4 brothers: Lyndon, Thomas, Norman, Clinton Payne and 2 sisters: Elouise Mugavero and Lavada Madden.

Visitation will be 10:30 AM-11:30 AM Thursday, August 17, 2023 at McDaniel Funeral Service in Kennett. Services will be held 11:30 AM Thursday, August 17, 2023 at McDaniel Chapel in Kennett with Rev. J.E. Crews officiating. Burial in Memorial Gardens in Kennett. Grandsons are honored to serve as pallbearers.
